I always find September to be a swirling month. Mellowing evening temperatures can sometimes bring a touch of melancholy as they mix with the final hazy hurrahs of diminishing summer days. Night meets day. Dark meets light. Autumn meets Summer. Yin meets yang. We are going into dusk but are we ready to go inside yet?
I like to think of September as the month for reflecting and reseting, so we may prepare for the next creative cycle. Below are some September suggestions. I hope you find something in here that sparks something in you.
β¨ Golden Gratitudes
What golden Summer moments, insights and activities are you harvesting and giving thanks for this month? Wrap your Summer reflections in a cosy blanket of gratitude - this will keep you warm as temperatures mellow.
π Drawing Inwards
September carries us from Summer to Autumn. As the nights draw in, can you too begin to draw inwards?
Let the light of the setting Summer sun illuminate your softer, more nurturing side. Reflect on your creative needs and what you can do to meet them. Choose one thing and make that your focus this month.
Create more "listening" space in your week where you can tune into your intuitive whispers and rekindle your valuable relationship with your greatest creative asset - YOU. This space is about being, not doing so ease into it softly.
What dreams do you wish to incubate with you in this coming season?
π Falling Leaves
What unfair expectations, hindering habits or creative projects are your branches still holding onto? Are you harbouring heavy expectations of where you thought you should be? Or perhaps you are clinging too tightly onto your bag of unexplored ideas. Is the sheer quantity overwhelming your energy reserves?
What are you prepared to let fall away this month, so you too can prepare for your next cycle of inward growth? With the grace of a falling leaf, let what needs to go, go.
Imagine setting down your bag of leaves. The cooler winds coming in will naturally carry some away. What's meant to stay will stay - feeding your creative soul and sustaining you until next Spring.
Where can you invite more trust into your practice this month? When things feel uncertain or you find yourself in darkness, look to nature. After Winter must come Spring. Can you look to your own nature with that same trust and soften into your own creative cycle? After all, you too are a part of nature. You too, have the ability to make the unimaginable real. You too, can be a comfort and a surprise all wrapped up in one. You are a miracle. It's all a miracle.
